STANDARD PROCEDURES FOR WOMEN OF THE ELCA
Birth: Upon the event of a birth within the congregation, a long-stemmed rose will be placed on the organ at the next regular worship service. Roses are ordered by the parish coordinator and paid for by WELCA. Following the service, the rose will be delivered to the parents by the Pastor.
Baptism: Testaments will be presented at the time of baptism.
New Adult Women Members: Women who join our church family will be given a yearbook and invited to attend circle meetings.
Engagements: Showers and receptions will be left to the discretion of personal friends in the congregation.
Newlyweds: A gift of a wedding cross will be presented to members of our congregation upon marriage.
Illness: Written cards and messages of concern are sent to members of the congregation who are ill. Dinner is to be taken to the home when a member of the congregation returns from the hospital, following illness or a birth.
Funerals: A $10.00 memorial will be given in memory of a deceased church member or a person in the immediate family (parent, child, or spouse) of a member of St. Timothy's. Upon the death of a member of St. Timothy’s, or a person in the immediate family as defined above, contact is made to assist as needed. A meal is provided at the home or the church, if needed, on the day of the funeral, when the funeral is held locally.
Refreshments: Food will be provided for events which originate in WELCA. Exceptions to these procedures may be approved by the WELCA Executive Board. Appointments of the persons to be responsible for the services above will be made by the WELCA Executive Board.
